The series of design projects centered on visual design principles, with a focus on typography. The objective was to explore how font choice alone can convey meaning, emotion, and tone. The series of design projects challenged me to analyze how different fonts communicate specific moods and cultural associations, and how type aesthetics influence the overall message.
Choosing and Combining Typefaces
This project focused on making intentional font choices to communicate visually through typography. I explored how to select typefaces that reflect the tone of the Juneteenth holiday and how to pair them effectively to create hierarchy, contrast, and aesthetic appeal. The goal was to design a visually engaging piece that expresses the spirit of the holiday using display fonts and quotes.
Juneteenth Graphic
This project explored the use of color, form, and imagery to visually communicate the Juneteenth holiday event. I researched, selected, and layered images, incorporating color and shapes to create original, engaging artwork. The goal was to design a piece that captures the essence of the holiday through thoughtful composition and visual storytelling.
Combining Text and Imagery
In this project, I combined typography with imagery, color, and form to design outdoor display banners that promote the Juneteenth holiday event. The goal was to create a strong visual composition that communicates each event through a thoughtful mix of type, pattern, and color. The banner includes the event name, date, a selected quote, a clear call to action, and the brand logo to ensure cohesive and effective promotion.
